CUTURE - A large number of Van Luong villagers in Van Phu ward, Viet Tri city, Phu Tho Province participated in a festival hosted by Van Luong Temple with a hope to have good crops and good weather for the whole year on the third day of the Lunar New Year (February 12th).

As the legend said, the eighteenth Hung King, his son-in-law Tan Vien and mandarins went hunting on the first days of a spring. Seeing a herd of wild boar, the king was going to shoot but Tan Vien stopped him and he himself caught the biggest of the herb by hand. The king praised Tan Vien and decided to feast local people with pork. Commemorating that merit, local people built a temple, named Van Luong, right at the place where the feast occurred.

PANO’s reporter Dao Duc Hanh captured some images of this annual festival. PANO would like to introduce them.
